Candle Refills

Candle Refills are an eco-friendly and cost-effective option, as you can reuse your containers instead of buying new ones. These molds are designed to fit into existing containers and can be used to create new candles with the same shape and size as your original candles. When deciding to add candle refills to your lineup in conjunction with our jars there are a few things to consider.

Fit

All our refills to be used with our jars have a small tolerance for fit. When your customers use the refills we want to make sure they are not squeezing them in, with a chance to break the jars. Please download the scale drawing to determine if a refill shape and size will work for you.

When choosing to use refill molds that work with jars your are casting, the type of medium is an important factor. The medium used can affect the rate of mold shrink you experience over the life of your mold. Because refills have a small tolerance for fit please take this into consideration when deciding if it will work for you.

As outlined on the listing, mold shrink is a consideration. If you do use a harsher medium, such as Cement All, it can shrink your molds. All our refills are made to fit our molds as shipped.

When choosing to use refill molds that work with glass jars please know that the fit will most likely not be snug. Manufacturers all have a tolerance in production and glass manufacturing can vary up to 2mm. Generic refills are sized with this in mind.

Wax

All our refills are assuming some level of wax shrink when you make them. When wax is heated and liquified, it expands which increases its volume. As it cools it contracts and takes up less volume.

If you are having trouble with fit, consider an alternative wax.

  • Beeswax and paraffin wax have higher shrink rates.
  • Our molds can withstand temperatures as high as 400°F. The temperature you pour and the rate it cools can all change the amount of shrink.
